ORKNEY ISLANDS COUNCIL HOSTELS AND CAMPSITES COVID-19 INFORMATION

Our Hoy and Rackwick Hostels are currently open* and the campsites are due to open from 1 April and Birsay Hostel will remain closed to public for the 2021 season. The capacity of each site has been greatly reduced. And all guests staying at our sites must understand our terms and conditions and follow the COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions put in place for the protection and safety of all staff and visitors.

April 2021 Update – Following the latest Scottish Government announcement on 13 April on the easing of level 3 restrictions to allow non essential travel from 26 April we have now opened up online bookings from 26 April.

Welcome to the online booking site for Birsay Hostel & Campsite, Point of Ness Campsite, Hoy Centre and Rackwick Hostel.

Booking Arrangements

Orkney Islands Council offers a choice of Single Room Occupancy (no online booking available) Exclusive rooms or Exclusive Hostel use.

Due to the Scottish Government’s Test and Protect regulations, we now require the names and contact details of all guests who use our facilities. You must provide this information at the time of booking.

All bookings and full payment must be made prior to arrival to the site. If no availability is shown please contact our Customer Services by emailing stromnesscs@orkney.gov.uk or calling 01856873535, they may be able to help you find a room depending on the current Scottish Government guidelines.

With restrictions on ferry services we are encouraging all guests to ensure they have ferry bookings prior to booking into our sites.

Single Occupancy

These bookings can only be made via telephone or email and subject to room availability.
Rates from £17.90 for Junior and £20.50 for Seniors.

Exclusive Rooms

These bookings can be made online or by telephone or email. Rates from £57.50 which includes 2 Adults or 2 Adults and 2 Children.

Exclusive Use of Hostel

These bookings can be made online or by telephone or email.
Discounted rates from £107.00 per night and £565.00 per week

Opening Dates

Point of Ness Campsite
Open from April to September.
Check in from 14:00.
Check out by 10:00.
Toilet facilities will be closed during while Wardens carry out daily cleaning.

Birsay Campsite
Open April to September.
Check in between 19:00 and 21:00
Check out by 10:00
Toilets and building facilities will be closed while Wardens carry out daily cleaning.

Birsay Hostel
Closed for 2021.

Hoy Centre
Open all year round.
Check in from 17:00 (please inform the warden of your expected arrival time prior to arriving in Hoy).
Open all year round except through the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
Check out by 10:00.

Rackwick Hostel
Open all year round subject to bookings.
Check in from 17:00 (please inform the warden of your expected arrival time prior to arriving in Hoy).
Check out by 10:00.
Only operating exclusive use of the whole hostel therefore no single occupancy bookings or exclusive room bookings available.
